Nothing compares to this time of year when your Thanksgiving table is set with a large turkey and side dishes for your family and friends to gather around. For many of us, the laughter and storytelling of the holidays center around home, and often times it is your home that makes the holidays so magical.

It is a time for us to reflect on how thankful we are for the generations of families that have brought us to this day. We can imagine, as we feast, a table spanning across the years, seated with grandparents, parents, and children.

Thanksgiving is also a time for us to reflect on our Nation's legacy given to us by the early settlers, and the reason we continue to celebrate Thanksgiving Day each year. A bountiful harvest and a shared meal began America's tradition and legacy that has been passed down to the next generations.

Your home serves as a monument to this legacy. If you are fortunate enough to live in the same house your parents or grandparents lived in, then it will tell the story of your family's past. If you live in an older home, just think of how many Thanksgiving meals were prepared in the same kitchen you are now serving your meal from. If you live in a brand new home, imagine future generations that will be connected to you through your kitchen.

This Thanksgiving, cherish the legacy that came before you and the legacy you are creating now. Remember the memories from your parents’ and grandparents’ Thanksgiving feasts, while making new traditions this holiday season. Your family and friends will treasure these memories for years to come. From our family to your family, Wren & Willow wishes you a Happy Thanksgiving and a day filled with joyful memories!

Butterscotch Pecan Rolls

by Hannah Schmidt

Ingredients: 1 Package of Yeast

1/4 C. Warm Water

1/4 C. Lukewarm Milk

1/4 C. Sugar

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 Egg

3/4 C. & 2 Tbsp. Butter, softened

2 1/2 C. Flour

1/2 C. Brown Sugar

1/2 C. Pecan, halved

1/4 C. Sugar

2 tsp. Cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º. Begin by dissolving the yeast in the warm water and set aside. In a large bowl, mix the milk, sugar, salt, egg, 1/4 C. butter, and half of the flour together. Beat until smooth, add the dissolved yeast, and mix again. Add the remaining flour until dough is easy to handle. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and elastic, then place in a greased bowl. Immediately flip the bowl over so the dough is greased-side up and cover. Allow greased dough to double in size for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Melt 1/2 C. butter in a baking pan and sprinkle the melted butter with brown sugar and pecan halves, set aside. Punch down the risen dough and roll into a rectangle, roughly 9x15-inches in size. Spread the remaining butter over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Roll up from the shorter side and seal edge by pinching dough closed. Stretch the dough length wise until dough is even. Cut dough into roughly 15 even sized rolls. Place rolls spaced on the prepped baking pan and let rise again until doubled. Allow to bake for 25-30 minutes. Once baked through, remove from the oven and immediately turn the pan upside-down onto a tray. Leave baking dish on top of rolls for a minute or two to allow for remaining topping to drizzle over rolls.
