After years of dreaming, planning, financing, and lots of praying, we are so excited to announce our newest Wren & Willow project: a 21,000 square foot multi-use building!
We are calling it The Carriage House, and it is located across the street from our current building on North Pearl Street. The Carriage House will be home to the Wren & Willow offices, and will provide urban living, a rooftop event space, a local artisan retail shop, and a boutique bakery! We are excited that this dream is finally a reality, and we cannot wait to introduce you to The Carriage House.

We broke ground in early March, and we have been thrilled to see it progress, while keeping the safety of our team a top priority. We will continue to update you through our website and posts, or you can come by for a personal tour!

Tom Motland & Cliff Kendall are supervising the project. Their previous experience as commercial builders will serve Wren & Willow as the General Contractor.
This has been a family project, and Laureen has made it a priority to include her grandchildren in the planning, demolition, and construction milestones.

Historically, a carriage house was built to house carriages, horses, and tack. It sometimes had a second story where the coachman would live. Many carriage houses around the country have been restored and remodeled into apartment buildings, businesses, and restaurants. Some were even turned into speakeasies in the 1920s.
While we are building a new carriage house from ground-up, we do look forward to keeping the tradition of a “stables” theme with a nod to the historical significance of a true working carriage house.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

A taste of what we plan to serve in our boutique bakery, which will also offer gluten-free options.
Ingredients:
1 C. Butter
1 C. Brown Sugar
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Vanilla
2 C. & 2 Tbsp. Gluten-Free flour
1 tsp. Salt
1 1/2 C. Chocolate Chips
Vanilla Ice cream for serving
Directions: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a 10 or 12-inch cast iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring often. When butter is melted, add the sugars and turn heat to low. When the batter is smooth and glossy, chill for 10-15 minutes. Do not add the eggs until the batter is chilled or it will scramble the eggs. When batter is chilled, add the eggs, vanilla, flour, and salt; stir well. Fold in the chocolate chips. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges are brown. The center will be slightly gooey, which is what makes this dessert so amazing. If the edges get too brown too quickly, place some foil around the edge of the skillet. Top with ice cream and enjoy while warm.
